Hi,

I suggest to offer Blockwave Norway the responsibility of programming
half a program track -- one day of program -- at FSCONS 2019.

Traditionally this is what we used to call one track, not a half track.
;) (3-4 tracks / day, 6-8 tracks over a weekend.)

I stand corrected :-)

Blockwave Norway is a student association at Informatics, UiO. They
started about half a year ago, and they grow out of this course and
environment:
IN5420 – Distributed Blockchain Technologies
https://www.uio.no/studier/emner/matnat/ifi/IN5420/index.html

They have organized several well organized events and talks already. To
us they can be more hands/help with programming and organizing, and of
course they can be a connection to the local students -- with promo and
visibility advantages for FSCONS.

In return Blockwave Norway can get sponsor status for FSCONS, their logo
in the program, and free passes to FSCONS for their board members (and
perhaps for their paying members?).

If they can commit to helping in a considerable way with volunteers,
marketing etc. then I am not against them being called partners or
similar, and them having their logo in the programme and so on, but not
as sponsors and not for just organising a track (this is not what you
suggest, but I wanted to make that clear).

I may be imprecise with the words "sponsor", "partner", I don't even remember what I called it.

To keep it simple: I want to offer them a track, and I want to offer them to have their logo in the program.

I hope that they can volunteer for the conference beyond just their own track, but am uncertain how much we can demand or ask for in that regard. I suggest we discuss this on sunday.

I think that the track organisers and any volunteers they gather should get free passes, like all other volunteers, but I am sceptical towards the idea of offering them as an organisation a general discount.

I agree.

I would then rather see a general student discount.

Yes, IIRC we already have that.

I will put this suggestion on the agenda for our next FSCONS planning
meeting. Please check the links above before the meeting, to form your
own opinion about this suggestion.

Since I may not be able to make the meeting, I'll take the opportunity
of replying here instead! :)
