 Community tech: meet the people building alternatives

When it becomes more and more apparent that big tech is enabling the 
rise of fascism, the surveillance state and warmongering, we need to 
think of alternatives. Forget about TINA, because THERE ARE PLENTY OF 
ALTERNATIVES in the digital world already! In this event we will see 
some real-life examples of digital platforms and meet the people working 
on the ground, building tools from the community and for the community. 
We will discuss some of the many different challenges we face, whether 
it is about financing models or how to raise awareness for people to 
make the switch in their daily lives and in organisations.


       Participating initiatives

*Karrot* (karrot.world <http://karrot.world>) - A platform for community 
organising supporting diverse grassroots groups in Gothenburg and abroad

*Collective Tools *(collective.tools <http://collective.tools>) - a 
suite of integrated free software for organisations

*Democracy Upgraded* (https://democracyupgraded.org/) - tools for 
democratic participation, from local groups to international bodies

*Social Medier Underifrån* (https://underifran.se/) - a campaign in 
Gothenburg to raise awareness about the existing alternatives to social 
media

*Fripost* (fripost.org <http://fripost.org>) - /To be confirmed/ - An 
association providing democratic e-mail services to their members.


Depending on the number of participants we will arrange this as a 
moderated discussion panel, a fish bowl or as a self-organized show and 
tell. Therefore it is important to /confirm attendance/. Not least 
because we will have some /fika/ 🍪☕️ (come a bit early to serve 
yourself!) and stay to the end to get some dinner 🍕 (probably pizza).
