You're right, that's was a bit vague, sorry. I meant for the talks that were
not particularly adapted for kids, the keynotes being a good example, as
bored kids can be a bit disturbing. Giving them something else to do is a
soft way help avoid the situation while a good way to make their experience
better as well (win-win.)
Off course, if some event are made to include kids, we should encourage them
to go in the lecture rooms :-)
As a side note, an other thing we can do to improve the situation is to make
sure that the speakers use the PA system. It's a bit frustrating to struggle
to understand the speaker when you know that the room is equipped with a good
working mic...
